Looks amazing.
It promises to be a visually stunning, thought provoking film by a great artist. I’ll be seeing it next week at SVA.
I am such a fan of Shirin Neshat and the book Women Without Men. Only she could make the book into a film–the book showed such painful beauty and longing, like in her work Pulse. I cannot wait to see this in Houston!

The trailer looks very good, and did hear the interview with Shirin Neshat on the BBC R4, which i had not known of her existance at the time. The interview does sound like a good movie reflecting the real influence of foreign policies of Great Britain and United States, which up until now has changed slightly.
A stunning piece of art/work. Wundervoll und ergreifend.
It is a magical and beautiful tale about four souls and their struggle to find freedom (in all forms and meaning of the word).
Go see it with an open heart and mind, you won’t regret it!
This movie is not like the book of Parsipur, but it is an art work on its own, based on the book. The images are open, clean but also mysteriously meaningfull. A fabulous movie. I wish I had the dvd and could see it more times as it has a lot of layers.

I got goosebumps just seeing the trailer! This movie fits all women who are trapped in their own world and their fight for freedom for themselves. A truly beautiful work of art.

This film is a maudlin fantasy that reinvents the Iranian revolution, the role of women, and their relationship with men into a simplistic cartoon that flatters/panders to the outlook of the western, liberal feminist. The lives of the women are depicted in a style clearly informed by what a western feminist might like to imagine to be their lives and feelings, and those womens’ tortured and cramped individual wills, to be like.
This is a love story – the story of a group of Iranian women discovering their love for their own individual and for western feminism. The story shows us that all Iranian women, of all social classes, can embrace individualism and feminism together.

I think I saw bits of the movie in Berlin about 5 years ago. Waching the trailer brought back memories and tears fell down my cheeks. I love Shirin Neshat’s work, although it feels wrong to use the word love, I really do. It’s confronting, realistic but with some poetry on the other hand, dark, black and makes you think. Think about the multicultural world we want to live in, and all the differences still existing in our world.

This film is sexist. Enough victimization. Instead of making films that whine and nag about these situations, do something about them. Awareness hasn’t helped. Try to be creative enough to make a change. I’m so tired of people like Neshat using issues like this to get famous.
